Robyn Sykes sculpts words using metaphors, metre, similes, rhyme and more. The entertainer, award-winning poet, writer, and drama enthusiast has incubated crocodile eggs, lived in Japan, edited a newspaper, focussed an electron microscope and worked on a farm. In November 2023 she was inducted into the Australian Poetry Hall of Fame in Guyra as a Living Legend of Australian Poetry, for services to Australian Bush Poetry.
The livewire performer is also an accomplished writer, and is published in anthologies and journals nationally, internationally and online.
The multi-award-winning writer is not your average rhyming poet. A flick of her pen makes words twist, tuck and double-somersault with pike.
At festivals, schools, community organisations, cafes and campfires around Australia and beyond, the keen performer takes her audiences on a high impact tour of modern Australia.
Robyn is passionate about nature, social issues and rural life. Her poems make people laugh, cry, think and laugh again. She loves to contribute to communities. Prepare to have your heart warmed!
Characters are Robyn’s specialty. Meet them and their creator at concerts, events and workshops at venues around Australia and beyond.
